BASIC INVESTIGATIONS R-wave Amplitude in Lead II of an Electrocardiograph Correlates with Central Hypovolemia in Human Beings

چکیده
Objectives: Previous animal and human experiments have suggested that reduction in central blood volume either increases or decreases the amplitude of R waves in various electrocardiograph (ECG) leads depending on underlying pathophysiology. In this investigation, we used graded central hypovolemia in adult volunteer subjects to test the hypothesis that moderate reductions in central blood volume increases R-wave amplitude in lead II of an ECG. Methods: A four-lead ECG tracing, heart rate (HR), estimated stroke volume (SV), systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and mean arterial pressure were measured during baseline supine rest and during progressive reductions of central blood volume to an estimated volume loss of >1,000 mL with application of lower-body negative pressure (LBNP) in 13 healthy human volunteer subjects. Results: Lower-body negative pressure resulted in a significant progressive reduction in central blood volume, as indicated by a maximal decrease of 65% in SV and maximal elevation of 56% in HR from baseline to 60 mm Hg LBNP. R-wave amplitude increased (p < 0.0001) linearly with progressive LBNP. The amalgamated correlation (R) between average stroke volume and average R-wave amplitude at each LBNP stage

Objective- The objective of the present study was to define electrocardiographic data following intranasal administration of diazepam, midazolam and xylazine with or without Ketamine in Chough. Design- To determine the heart effects of anesthetics in intranasal administration, an experimental in vivo study was employed. Animals- Ten healthy Choughs were examined in the current study...

The present experiment investigated the effect of different levels of dietary L-carnitine on electrocardiographic pathern of broilers reared at high altitude (2100 m). A number of 192 day-old chicks (Cobb 500) were selected from a group of 300 chicks and assigned to four treatments with four replicates of 12 birds. All chicks were raised on floor pen up to 42 days of age. Treatments composed of...
متن کاملElectrocardiographic changes in the littermate mongrel dogs from birth to six months of life
Evaluation of the cardiovascular system of canine pediatrics requires awareness of the anatomical and physiological changes occurring from birth to six months of age. The aim of this study was to report electrocardiographic changes in the littermate mongrel dogs from birth tosix months. Serial six-lead electrocardiograms were recorded from ten normal littermate mongrel dogs kept on right latera...
متن کاملDetermination the Normal Parameters (amplitude and duration) of Electrocardiogram Waves in River Buffaloes (Bubalus Bubalis) of Khuzestan
An easy way to evaluate the cardiovascular system is recording the cardiac electrical activities. Reviewing the available literatures suggests that buffalos ECG compared to other large animals have been neglected and the carried out studies in this field are too limited. Using this method for the diagnosis of cardiac disorders needs the standardization, not only among animal species but also am...
